Jewelry and Watches-EOS Additive Manufacturing offers jewelry and watch designers more creative freedom
this technology makes the production cost of individual samples and customized series more economical
EOS andCookson Precious Metals (CPM)collaboration optimizes the additive manufacturing process for gold materials. Cookson is Europe's leading supplier of precious metal products, offering gold, silver, platinum and palladium alloys, wire, plate, tube, coinage blank and casting grain materials. The company is also a major precious metals refiner with a Certificate of "Excellent Delivery" under the London Bullion Market Association.
EOS Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) builds parts layer by layer according to CAD digital model data, and the finished product has a smooth surface with no visible signs of lamination. The product looks seamless-no different from traditional goldsmiths. However, unlike traditional goldsmith production, additive manufacturing can greatly reduce the amount of material required. Thus, a product having a specific hollow cavity shape can be produced more simply, more economically, and more efficiently.
Additive manufacturing eliminates the limitations of the design production process on the shape of the workpiece, giving designers greater design freedom. Even very complex structures, such as one-time interlocking or interwoven ornaments, can achieve high quality production. DLMS does not require mold opening, so it can be more economically applied to the manufacture of individual items as well as mass customized products.
